what I love most about Europe..

Posted in My Life in Europe tagged , at 11:52 AM by raindrop

that I can locate any street or address via Google Maps! with the detailed view of the location! and most of the times Google Maps tells you what is on this Location, either a clinic or a  shop, company .. etc. of course with people contribution.

For me, Google Maps is a real “Bless” in a country people do not even try to speak English in the streets, so If you’re coming to Paris, make sure you have all your maps  if you don’t speak French, and even if you are beginner in French language (like me!), people has different accents ..

I better go for my meeting now, salute!

trying Windows Live Writer

Posted in General at 5:06 PM by raindrop

well, I want something handy that will let me blog more often. I don’t like logging to the web every time I want to post something, therefore

I will be trying Windows Live Writer for few days.

I like the idea that I can add Plugs in! I will surf it later today

Unfortunately I only can post using this tool but I can’t manage my blog! e.g. editing my widgets and my pages, but I think it will be a good start ! I will look for more similar tools later on. [update: I can manage my pages! YUBBI!]

I’ve added a photo I took with my humble Sony Cybershot digital camera last month, one of the best shots I’ve taken I believe.

I hope it looks good on the web!

what happened to google.fr logo?

Posted in Internet Cloud tagged , , at 12:13 PM by raindrop

I was surprised today when I passed by google! google.fr  logo simply.. replaced!

google-dot-fr-logo-jan-08-2009

but why? and replaced with what? actually I was too curious because I’ve never seen google’s logo changed before to completly hide its original logo.. and I found this when I clicked on the new logo:

97 years ago, on Jan 28th, 1912 Paul Jackson Pollock has been born. Wikipedia Said:

“He was an influential American painter and a major force in the abstract expressionist movement.”

Another question crossed my mind at the moment; if he was American, why google france only changed its logo? why google USA didnt?

I know it’s weird and stupid question, but it makes me wonder!

one of his quotes that I really liked:

“It doesn’t matter how the paint is put on, as long as something is said.

anyway, I think google.fr is doing great job here! now I will get back to work :-) and if you want to have some fun and try abstract expressionist yourself,  just pass by Jackson Pollock website and draw yourself!

moving to France

Posted in General at 12:14 PM by raindrop

few weeks left until I finally move to Paris & start working, I am excited and worried at the same.. trying to buy and make sure that I have what I might need; packbag for my laptop, my dear IPod, Paris metro map, my favorite books, my external hard desk, digital camera and my HATS!

on my birthday, I got 2 special gifts; 1st one was from my manager (do you believe this?) and it was a notebook that has all French maps specially Paris, special places, metro maps, shopping stores, parks, important places like hospitals, hotels and because my manager is so kind she drew circles around the places i should visit! even shopping places.. I wonder if my manager wasn’t French, would s/he do the same?

my 2nd gift was a very special gift too from my best friends, a guid to speak french! has the important sentences I might use in daily life in addition to a dictionary.

Ive been told that I will feel lonely, but does it matter? I am in Paris! I am glad there’s a park just 5 mins away from my apartment.

I actually were amazed how I could have all the information i need from the internet; maps, traffic, metro schedules, ticket prices, restaurants and their exact location and how i can get there, everything could cross your mind will be online and handy! I will have no problems at all moving inside Paris and even outside Pairs, it is indeed very organized culture.

I am sure that I will wish that my contract will be extended few more years ;) what’s amazing as well that my best friend already started scheduling a visit! so I am expected Sam on xmas! that would be fun, and I’ve received invitations from my friends all over Europe; Nederlands, London, Hungary, Greece and Sweden..

oh well, I can’t wait .. time is passing too slow… tooo tooo slow at the moment :(

laters,

Rain
